Introduction(Written by Abby.H)
The old man stared at the many cheering people. France had finally decided to take back its rights, and to unite against England. So many stories filled his mind. Stories of the black death, and ugly illness that had been rumored to inhabit the coast. Stories of the brave men of the Crusades, that fought for God. Stories of the Magna Carta, the people's documented rights. Now, the war had come upon his lovely country, and only taking up arms could save it. Many important scenes in the middle ages determined the outcome of Europe. The Crusades, the Magna Carta, the Black Death, and the Hundred Years War were all monumental moments in history that will be remembered for years to come. For these events affected our world dramatically.

The Magna Carta(written by Sarah. E)
The Magna Carta was a very important document that helped the United States of America form the Constitution and changed Europe dramatically. The Magna Carta all started when King John of England elected himself to take place of his brother, King Richard (the Lionheart).King John angered so many people by misusing his power for fun and for other selfish reasons. He angered many people by raising taxes and forcing people to buy goods at high prices, making people build more places, demanding money to fight against France, and fighting with the Pope. After a while the people started to get tired of the cruel things that King John was doing to them.
Finally the people took their problems into their own hands and they told King John to meet in a meadow outside of town, and they surrounded him with guns and bow and arrows and forced him to listen. They basically said that if he didn't sign the document(Magna Carta) he would die.The document said “no in prisons without a jury trial, consultation with lords before raising taxes, and don't interfere with the church's authority. King John signed the document but he wasn’t really going to follow it so he just signed it so he wouldn’t die.One year later king John died of a disease.Even though King john didn't really follow the rules that were on the document it was saved and it helped us know what to put in our constitution today so that we don't end up how they did with their country.

The Black Death(Written by Abby. H)
Screams could be heard throughout the streets, and the wrenching silence that followed lasted only for a few minutes, before the whimpering started again. Drunk men sung, stumbling around outside, stuffing their large mouths with food. All the tall houses were locked, the shutters closed tightly, the sickness almost tangible in the air. The horror of the plague was great, and the cost huge. Many caught the disease, and few were spared. Terror spread throughout the land, and was interpreted many ways. The disease was known throughout the lands as terrible torture. The Black Death changed Europe forever, and although it cost Europe many lives, the after result was a revolutionary step in history.
The story of the plague that haunted many is a long tale. The plague began in small parts of Europe in the Mediterranean Sea. It was spread by fleas, little things that lived on the backs of black rats. The fleas carried bacteria that was so deadly. Soon the plague was everywhere, affecting most of Europe’s population. A diseased person was often shunned, feared because of the disease they harbored. When the symptoms of the plague were discovered on someone, they would be often left to die. Mothers and Fathers abandoned their children, brother turned on brother, family left each other, and the entire concept of community was forgotten. It couldn’t be cured with their technology. Victims of the disease were left to die. Because the disease was attacking all of Europe, many thought that it was the end of the world. Those who did, decided to make the most of their lives. They ate as much as possible, drank, and sang, dancing through the streets. Those more reasonable decided to live in an isolated community faraway, with little possessions. Many locked themselves in their homes, starving or dying of thirst. But still, there was no resolve for the disease since bacteria was yet to be discovered.
After the plague had disappeared, the change was great. The plague remained to be feared, but caused a step in history that was essential to the Middle Ages. Since it was feared, the interest in the medical field increased, and their technology and understanding grew. With the loss of lives, many jobs were up for taking, and the economy was doing well. Because the of the many job offerings, peasants could demand for better wages. But one of the most important changes was made after the plague. The many different social classes had changed. There was more respect for each class, as none had been spared from the plague. Europe had taken a horrible path, but began again in a better light.

Conclusion(Written by Abby .H with support by Sarah.E)
All events in the past effect the future. Some more then others. The Crusades made a huge mark on the future, as it was a long war fought in the name of God. Also the past also helps the present make choices. For example, the renowned Magna Carta influenced the Constitution.Another of these was the Black Death, a horrible illness that took over most of Europe and killed a lot of its inhabitants. War also brewed with sickness. The horrid long Hundred Years War determined the fate of France, the now famous country. Each of these events helped create their future and our present.
